Important Things to Remember
- Wear your glasses! You No longer have
two eyes. Protect the one you have.
- If the prosthesis bothers you so that it
must be wiped or rubbed, always close the eyelid and WIPE TOWARD
THE NOSE, wiping away from the nose may cause the prosthesis
to fall out.
- If you swim, dive, or water ski, wear swimming
goggles. More prostheses are lost during these sports than in
any others.
- When removing and cleaning the prosthesis,
be sure the sink stopper or plugs are in place and the lid to
the toilet is down. This is the second, most common way of losing
the prosthesis.
- If you remove the prosthesis never leave
it in any piece of tissue. If left in this manner, it can be
accidentally thrown away.
We advise consulting with your insurance broker/agent about
the possibility of insuring the prosthesis as in individual
property item.
- Always practice extreme cleanliness when
handling your prosthesis.
- Consult your doctor or Ocularist immediately
if trouble arises.
- Have your prosthesis cleaned and polished
at least twice a year by your Ocularist.
